Welcome to Sardis Baptist Church!
Sardis Baptist Church was established in 1811 when some members of the Saxe-Gotha Lutheran Church left and established Sardis Baptist Church. At that time it was the only Baptist church in the area. The first church was built of logs, and the pews were made of hewed logs with peg legs. After a fire destroyed the church, it was moved to its present location in 1835. For 187 years Sardis Baptist Church has been serving God in its present location, training disciples of Jesus Christ to reach the world with the Good News of Jesus Christ.
Sardis Baptist Church is a self-governing church that associates with the Southern Baptist Convention, the South Carolina Baptist Convention, and the Lexington Baptist Association.
